Here are the top reasons people stay away from Tao to Wellness:
Being Afraid of Needles
As young children, most of us were traumatized when we went to the doctor and had to get blood drawn or had to receive a shot. Even as adults, when we hear the word needle, we are immediately brought back to that time and it feels very unsettling.
In reality, an acupuncture needle is very different from a syringe. For one, it is solid and not hollow. Secondly, an acupuncture needle is about the size of one hair on your head. Very fine and actually quite flexible. Lastly, as opposed to getting blood drawn where the nurse is looking for a vein, we actually avoid veins, arteries and nerves and administer the needle into muscle or fat, which rears very little sensation.
Most patients report, the sensation is similar to a mosquito bite or actually there is no sensation at all.
Believing in Acupuncture
We’ve had this question many times over the years, prospective patients are under the impression that acupuncture is religious. There is no affiliation with religion in Chinese medicine whatsoever, nor do you have to carry any kind of certain belief system in order for this medicine to work successfully. Case in point; dogs, cats and even race horses receive acupuncture for pain and other ailments and yet it works. Our furry friends don’t have the capacity to decide if it works or not.
Insurance
While many health insurance companies do cover acupuncture, including the Kaiser, the VA, Medicare and Medi-Cal, some still do not. That raises the question for prospective patients on whether this modality is valid or effective. We assure you that Acupuncture is an effective modality for many ailments and diseases, at any given time in the world there are numerous research studies taking place proving it’s efficacy.
The Cost
At Tao to Wellness, we believe our pricing is reasonable, even for those that do not have insurance. We also offer packages that can decrease the cost of treatment as well.
If that still seems unattainable, perhaps connecting with a local community acupuncture clinic is something that would be of interest. Community clinics offer low cost, community style treatment in a public setting for more generalized issues.
If you have any questions, we would love to connect with you, let us know how we can help.
