Avocado also known as the Alligator Pear is botanically a large berry with a seed inside. The tree originated in South Central Mexico and Guatemala.

Avocados are delicious and high in vitamins and minerals and good fats. Here are 5 reasons to love them.

High in Potassium

Avocados actually have more potassium than bananas. Potassium functions to build muscles, synthesize proteins, control electrical activity of  the heart and to maintain acid-base balance in the body.

High in Vitamin C and E

Both are wonderful antioxidants, which function to neutralize the effects of free-radicals (substances that damage the body’s cells) and have a role in disease prevention.

Including avocados in your meals, couldn’t be easier. Slice them up and add them to salads, assemble a healthy avocado toast with a pouched egg, have avocado on crackers, add them to a rice bowl with a protein and vegetable or toss some in a smoothie.
