Americans are forced to allow the FDA to decide what can or cannot be added to food products on our supermarket shelves. While this is keeps us safe from harm, it’s isn’t always the best in terms keeping us healthy. Other countries, especially in Europe, make decisions about the same foods as the FDA does—and often come to very different conclusions.
Recently, the FDA has made strides by announcing the discontinuation of arsenic in our poultry products. They now have decided to tackle antibiotics and meet as well. Unfortunately, although the steps are progressive, they are still small in comparison to other countries.
